Virginia Perez was elected as the Westchester County Legislator for the 17th District in 2011, becoming the first Latina to serve on the Westchester County Board of Legislators, and has been the highest-ranking Latina in Westchester County to date. She served as Chair of the committees on Legislation and Public Safety and Security. She was also the co-chair of the Hispanic Affairs and Minority Affairs Task Forces at the Board of Legislators.
During her first term in office, she helped form a bipartisan coalition to pass a fiscally responsible budget― eliminating a $166 million deficit― helping to keep taxes at bay. Virginia also successfully allocated funding for essential services and programs that helped elevate her community; and worked with her colleagues to fully fund key county agencies, such as the Westchester County Office of Tourism and Film.
After leaving office, she began working closely with the film industry by serving as the Filming Coordinator for Rockland County. Virginia spearheaded the license agreements, managed all filming activity throughout the county, and coordinated the filming permits for feature films and television. Her production credits include: Spoiler Alert, Brightside, Fleishman is in Trouble, Three Women, Man and Witch, FBI Most Wanted, and Law and Order SVU.
